On May 24, 2019, CIEC Kindergarten conducted an open class observation with the theme, “Enhancing the Knowledge of the Students” with their parents. In this class which started with their children’s self-introduction, the parent and the teachers had a lot to smile as they could discover new things from their children. The classes were composed of 5 kinds of games which focus on not only having fun but to also take away their fears about the English language and improve their creativity and ability to think. The event was particularly significant for the parents as we present the actual classes and activities that their children attend in, not just for show.
The first event is called “Bring me” game in which the children are going to find the right picture after the teacher describes the image. This game helps the children perceive that learning English can also be fun, even learning simple words through this game can improve their memory and comprehension.
The next event is “Sink or Float” which is a fun science game that guide kindergarten students to new information and skills. In this game, the pupils would guess the answer if the objects presented by the teacher would float or sink in the water. This simple game will assist the children in developing creative thinking and proper reasoning.
After the students had their snacks, the Kindergarten class had another game called “Word Puzzle” in which the students would try to find the letters and arrange them correctly to form the words that they learned from the previous games. It is a great way for them to review and enjoy learning the lessons and topics they had in their classes.
The fourth class is about “Letter Writing”, this class helps the student learn how to write basic alphabet and simple words through dictation. It is the most meaningful class as the students discover new skills and improve their writing ability as well as listening, reading, and speaking.
The last activity in their class is “Painting”. In this art class, the students draw and painted their future goals and plans. They displayed their art and explained their future goals in front of their classmates and parents. The activity gave their parents a chance to see their talented children showing off new skills and improvement in their English abilities.
